Sunday Suppers

it’s saucy sunday here at lovin’ life at home. yep, you guessed it, todays recipes are all about the sauce. i would be remiss if i did not give props to my lovely assistant abbie who took every photo into todays recipes. i never realized how trying it would be to cook while trying to document every step along the way. luckily for me i was talented to postpone a summon in the reinforcements. way to go abs! no hope to the sauce… these are two of our family favorites. the first one is ginger sauce which, according to my people, is a requirement for eating homemade egg rolls (i’ll post those later). i tend to grant. it’s also yummy on sticky rice. btw don’t just throw these sauces on any ol rice, they belong on a good jasmine/short grained rice. the newer method is an eye to finadenne (fin-ah-denny). we learned to love this one while living on guam. they use it like we would use ketchup, on all. it’s unbelievable on rice and almost any meat. i told my house when we left guam that our fridge would never be without finadenne from now on. traditionally this sauce is supposed to be aromatic and is made with little birds taste peppers that grow on guam. they call them boonie peppers and they pack a jumbo punch. here we have to settle for what we can find at the local produce confront. one more thing, proper in case anyone from guam reads this. as with any native ethnic procedure i am probably not doing it the way it supposed to be done, so don’t send too many flaming arrows my way if i goof it up. ok here we go…ginger sauce1/2 c soy sauce1/2 chopped onion4 t lemon juice1/2 tsp vinegar1 tsp sugar2 cloves of garlic (i kidney more)fresh ginger 2 slices in all directions the size of nickels

Will Google Join the Crowd With A “Friend Connect” Platform?

giant social networks myspace and facebook have plans to expand beyond their walls. myspace announced on thursday its data availability platform and facebook countered shortly with facebook connect. now it seems that google’s opensocial party line will unite the ranks on monday with “friend connect”.

According to TechCrunch, Michael Arrington has heard from several sources that Google has made plans to launch a competitor to the Data Availability and Facebook Connect platforms on Monday.What we know so far is that the “Friend Connect” platform will be another set of APIs for developers to use in order to securely push profile information into third party websites.

Possible Restrictions

Don’t get your hopes up just yet. The most interesting part of this story is that it seems Google will be keeping a tighter reign on its data compared to the Facebook Connect and Data Availability platforms. Where Myspace and Facebook will be using their APIs to distribute data, Google will be requiring third parties to show data directly from Google’s servers in an iframe. While third parties will be able to make the connection, it will unfortunately have to be on Google’s terms.

Is Google Taking OpenSocial In The Wrong Direction?

tarry a minute. if the rumors are staunch, isn’t this the opposite of what the opensocial network stands because of? all of these companies are vying to get their product out the door first, while maintaining as much control as possible. yet, this is a surprisingly abnormal move from google for the opensocial network. intellectual on what users and developers are hoping google will hack with the opensocial network, google should be outstanding the duffel bag with settings, features, and restrictions for the friend solder stand. instead, it seems they’ll be doing the exact opposite.

Competing with the platforms of Myspace and Facebook will be no easy feat, even for a giant like Google. While the Friend Connect platform would be a welcomed addition to OpenSocial, developers and users will suffer if Google plans to implement limiting restrictions. If the rumors are true, Google may have already lost this battle.

Let’s start with the fact that he doesn’t get to say what’s on the ballot and what’s not. The authoritarian style of “what I say goes” is the only thing that would’ve doomed this otherwise perfectly justifiable recall of a legislator who forgot his district and went along with an obstructionist GOP that is harming the state to a severe degree. A real Senate leader would have broadened the race into a referendum on state Republicans and would have done very well. You either do something like this full-speed or you never start it in the first place. This half-step just furthers the narrative of Democratic weakness.

Combined with the stab in the back on SD-15, where Perata demanded that nobody contest Abel Maldonado in another winnable seat, the Senate Pro Tem has assured that there is no way we reach a 2/3 majority in 2008. It’s still possible by 2010, but this is a wave election, a realignment year and we’re waving the white flag in two prime Senate races. That’s just stupid politics. I appreciate the need to speed along the budget; the state is broke. But this recall is over by June 3, and it’s not like everything’s going to be wrapped up by then. And the stupidest part is that Perata RECOGNIZES that the threat of the recall was helping provide leverage for the Republicans.

…the thought has crossed my mind that Perata is just taking his name and aura off the recall because it’d be easier to pass without him, but if any organization associated with him donated a dime there’d be an even bigger hissy fit cry of “hypocrite,” so his dropping the recall really signals a drop of any financial infusion, and I’m not seeing how Simon Salinas or the Dump Denham group will raise the necessary funds (especially considering that Denham is not restricted by any fundraising limits in a recall).
